The design challenge

The Kirksey team set out to create a workspace that felt warm, functional, and cohesive. Collaboration and casual interaction were top of mind for the common spaces, and durable materials for circulation throughout high-traffic areas was a requirement. Key zones—the conference room, kitchen/common area, corridors, and lobby—needed materials that could handle daily use while providing texture, warmth, and a natural character.

Material solution

Ekoa in Essential was applied to walls and millwork to deliver warmth and durability. It frames the large monitor in the conference room, is used in the common-area kitchen to complement a moss-colored tiled backsplash, and covers expansive walls floor-to-ceiling for a cohesive, light-infused backdrop. In the lobby, Ekoa offsets darker black walls and enhances leather seating and soft lighting. Thin, durable sheets resist scratches and scuffs and are easy to maintain in high-traffic zones.

Experience in the space

Ekoa brings continuity and balance throughout the workspace. Natural light and layered interior lighting highlight its subtle grain and tones, providing warmth that offsets the darker black walls in the lobby. In corridors, Ekoa highlights accent walls and features corner trim for clean, intentional detailing. Across communal areas and gathering spaces, the material supports both focused work and casual interaction, creating an environment that feels dynamic, approachable, and human-centered.

Sustainability & healthy interiors

Ekoa’s flax-based, super-low VOC surface promotes healthy indoor air quality while avoiding off-gassing and chemical additives. With low embodied carbon, it supports long-term sustainability and durability.

Installation & detailing

Panels were placed to ensure seamless transitions, clean edges, and alignment with complementary materials, highlighting the natural grain and enhancing cohesion.
