The design challenge
At Eat Just’s Alameda headquarters, the goal was to create a workplace that reflects the company’s mission—advancing a more sustainable, plant-based future. Shared amenity spaces and circulation corridors needed to support daily use while reinforcing a material story aligned with the brand.
With active labs integrated into the workplace, corridors see constant movement—people, equipment, and materials moving in and out throughout the day. The challenge was to introduce a surface that could handle that level of use while maintaining a clean, modern design language.
Material solution
Ekoa in Bare was applied across walls and fabricated into panels suspended from above—creating a continuous material language across vertical and horizontal planes. Its subtle grain and warm tone introduce an organic layer that balances the space’s modern palette of neutral finishes and crisp lines.
Engineered for durability, Ekoa performs as a protective surface in high-traffic corridors, supporting the demands of a workplace that bridges office and lab environments.
Experience in the space
The space reads as crisp and contemporary, with Ekoa adding warmth at key moments along circulation paths and overhead. Suspended panels bring depth and structure, reinforcing movement through the space while softening the overall environment.
This contrast—precision and natural expression—creates a more grounded, human-centered experience within a highly active workplace.
Sustainability & healthy interiors
Eat Just’s mission centers on rethinking how everyday systems can reduce environmental impact. Ekoa extends that thinking into the built environment—bringing a plant-based material approach to interior surfaces.
With Red List Free and Clean Air GOLD certifications, along with transparency through HPD (Health Product Declaration) and the Mindful Materials platform, Ekoa supports healthier, more informed material choices. Its carbon-sequestering properties further align with a lower-impact approach—quietly reinforcing the same principles of resource efficiency and responsibility that define Eat Just’s work.
Installation & detailing
Ekoa was installed across walls and ceilings, with panels also suspended to create layered depth throughout corridors. Panels were placed end-to-end, forming a subtle linear rhythm that adds structure without interrupting flow.
Clean edges and precise integration allow the material to perform across surfaces—durable, cohesive, and built for daily use.
Outcome & impact
A modern workplace grounded by natural material expression—durable enough for constant movement, and aligned with a mission built on better, more responsible systems.
