The design challenge

space that feels restorative from the moment of arrival. The lobby needed to offer a sense of calm and clarity—supporting mental health and wellbeing—while performing in a high-traffic, commercial setting.

GKV Architects also aimed to move away from traditional wood laminates, seeking a material that could deliver durability and cost-efficiency without the environmental impact of more carbon-intensive options.

Material solution

Ekoa in Essential was selected as a plant-based alternative to conventional surfacing. Applied on a feature wall in the lobby, it introduces a soft, grounded tone that supports a calming atmosphere while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.

Its durability makes it well-suited for daily use, offering resistance to scuffs and wear in a space that sees constant movement.

The lobby feels composed and welcoming—an intentional contrast to the surrounding urban environment. Ekoa’s subtle grain and natural character bring warmth without distraction, helping to create a setting that supports pause, transition, and ease.

The Essential colorway reinforces a sense of balance, contributing to an environment designed around comfort and care.

Sustainability & healthy interiors

Material health is foundational in a wellness-focused space. Ekoa supports healthier interiors with ultra-low VOC emissions and Red List Free and Clean Air GOLD certifications—helping reduce exposure to harmful chemicals in areas designed for healing and mental wellbeing.

Made from rapidly renewable flax fibers and plant-based resins, it offers a lower-impact alternative to traditional materials, aligning with Elevate Point’s mission to support holistic health.

Installation & detailing

Ekoa was installed on the feature wall in the reception area, creating a continuous, cohesive finish. Clean detailing and precise panel alignment reinforce a sense of order and calm, while supporting long-term durability in a commercial environment.
